The team brings interdisciplinary expertise and a strong commitment to academic rigor, ethical publishing, and knowledge accessibility in support of the journal’s mission.
The editorial board oversees all aspects of the publication process, from peer review and content selection to editorial policy development and strategic growth. It ensures that each manuscript published in the journal meets high scholarly and ethical standards while contributing meaningfully to the fields of sustainability and public policy.
Editor-in-Chief
The Editor-in-Chief provides overall direction for the journal, ensuring its alignment with global research priorities in sustainable development and policy studies. Responsibilities include setting editorial standards, overseeing special issues, and managing ethical oversight in line with COPE guidelines. The Editor-in-Chief also serves as the primary liaison with the publisher, advisory board, and external partners.

The Managing Editor also works closely with the web development team to maintain the digital infrastructure of the journal, manage DOIs, and ensure long-term digital archiving.
Section Editors
Section Editors manage submissions in their specialized subject domains and provide subject-specific oversight of the review process. Each section editor ensures that peer review is thorough, constructive, and aligned with the journal’s aims. They also make recommendations to the Editor-in-Chief based on reviewer evaluations.

International Advisory Board
The journal is further supported by an International Advisory Board composed of senior scholars, development professionals, and policy practitioners. Members contribute to thematic issue planning, advise on editorial policy, and support reviewer recruitment across regions.
The advisory board plays a crucial role in ensuring that the journal remains globally relevant and responsive to emerging issues in sustainable development and policy.
Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
The editorial team of JSDP is deeply committed to maintaining geographic, gender, and disciplinary diversity. Editors and reviewers are selected with attention to representation from the Global South, marginalized communities, and underrepresented sectors in sustainability research.
The journal actively promotes inclusive authorship, supports early-career researchers, and provides editorial mentorship where needed. This approach strengthens the quality, relevance, and impact of the scholarship we publish.
